On December 17th, both groups of the Red Hat Society in Starke had their Christmas luncheon. This year, the Payne family was invited, in honor of Grandma's birthday. Granddaddy, Nancy, Wyatt and I were the only ones who were able to go. It was so very nice of them, and we had a good time.

Do they still count?
Birthdays, that is? Grandma's birthday would have been today. Do you still celebrate...I mean...is it okay to?? Or is that a bit strange? I feel the need to celebrate, and do it just as she would have liked, but somehow I think when I say that...people look at me as if I am nuttier than the Mad Hatter.
Any how, I am hoping that Richard will be agreeable enough to go to St. Augustine this weekend to 'celebrate' ...we shall see!!
Happy Birthday Grandma....this is sure to be the best one ever for you!

Here ya go BeckyLou..
I can't believe it....almost a month since my last post. I do think about posting something every day, but then, life happens...and I forget. The only reason I am doing it now is that BeckyLou rides my beeehind about it almost every time I talk to her, and I figure it will put an end to it for the time being if I just suck it up and update it.
Last Friday, 12-4-09...we had an unfortunate event. Murray and our green egg laying hen were violently attcked and killed by 2 dogs. We were next door at the Mailman's house for dinner..only being gone for about 2 hours, and when we came back...we saw the chicken in the yard, almost in front of the door. Richard went to feed Murray and the other chickens, and I saw him run to the truck, gun in tow. I yelled out the door to him and he said they got the goat too, and at that point...I was very upset.
Mailman and Richard proceeded to follow the two sets of dog tracks out of the driveway and right to the house where they belong. We are going to let sleeping dogs lie for now, but karma is a bitch...and what goes around comes around.
They came back and buried Murray and the chicken. I didn't go out, but Richard said it was awful, and I believe him. We all loved Murray...he was so friendly, and he probably didn't think any harm was going to come to him when he saw those dogs, just because he's used to playing with our dogs.
